There were few birds at the day time roost on Harty in August and September so it was more in hope than expectation that we went ringing on the night of 9/10 September. Fortunately counts during the day are not always a guide to what happens at night and we ended up catching 83 birds of 12 species.
Redshank 42, Dunlin 21, Curlew 7, Bar-tailed Godwit 3, Black-tailed Godwit 2, Ringed Plover 2, Greenshank 1, Oystercatcher 1, Knot 1, Ruff 1, Little Grebe 1 and Shelduck 1. A good catch for September, the Little Grebe was only the third caught at Harty.
